We arrived at the Happy Trails Resort, Surprise, AZ on Jan. 1, 2011 and we loved it as soon as we entered the park. There is lots of greenery along with the desert look. The resort has so many activities we can't keep track of them all. There is one olympic size pool and 3 other neighborhood center pools (smaller in size). The pool temperature is a wonderful 89 degrees. As soon as we arrived I told Royle that I found where I would like to spend winters. He agreed so we started looking for lots to buy. Even though most of the lots are good sized lots (about the size of our lot at Latitude 49), we decided we wanted to buy a lot along the golf course so we could look out at some scenery. We made an offer on our 2nd favorite (less $ than our first choice) but the owner had just accepted an offer the previous day. We just said, okay, meant to be and proceeded to make an offer on our favorite. Paperwork is all done but we asked the title company to record on 1/31 to allow time for current renters to find another lot to rent. So, on Tuesday, 2/1, we will be moving to our new lot. We are pretty excited to get settled in.
We will leave here when it gets too hot to stay, probably around the middle of April, and head back to Latitude 49.
Here are a couple of photos of our new lot (I call it our house without walls). As you can see, the patio has an outdoor kitchen and the shed has a counter w/sink, microwave, frig/freezer, w/d hookup, cupboards - it also has pull-down stairs for the upper level - room for sleeping.
