Sunrise_Sunset 12/20/2008
I got to the beach early with a friend. We wanted to get a photo of the sunrise on the shortest day of the year (bottom photo). We were afraid it would be too foggy. It took about 15 minutes for the sun to get above the fog but it turned out it was a quite beautiful sunrise. The sunset was especially bright. We have a great site to catch the sunsets from our window. We will be moving to another site on 12/31 and I don't think we will have such great views from our windows.

PORT ARANSAS

Enjoying Pioneer Beach - wanted to share a few photos. The first is one Royle was able to get when Venus and Jupiter were lined up with the moon to make a face. The sunsets are always great (I am planning to go to the beach early today - shortest day of the year - to get a sunrise - if it isn't too foggy). The last one was taken at the Port Aransas Wildlife Refuge. We got lots of neat photos of the wildlife but wanted to show this one because of the freighter going down the channel.

PORT ARANSAS, MUSTANG ISLAND, TEXAS
We changed our travel plans - we had planned to stay the month of Dec. here at Pioneer Beach RV Resort but decided to stay 3 months. So, we will be here through the month of February.
If you are interested in seeing why this is such a great location you can checkout the resort website at :

I added a new link to the right - it is a google map showing our travel route so far this year.
This photo is one I took last year - one of those days I was up early enough to catch the sunrise

LEAVING ROCKPORT, TEXAS
We arrived at the Pioneer Beach RV Resort on 12/1. Pioneer Beach is on Mustang Island just a few miles from the city of Port Aransas. We couldn't go across Corpus Christi bay on the ferry because of low tide; didn't know that until we got to the ferry dock. We were told we could wait a couple of hours or get there via Corpus Christi. We decided not to wait - we turned around and headed for Corpus Christi. It took us an extra 50 miles but we didn't mine because it is such a pretty drive.
We spent Thanksgiving at the coach instead of participating in the Bay View Park dinner - they were expecting 175 people for their dinner. We enjoyed good food and a quiet day and gave thanks for all we have. We hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
I updated photo gallery to include photos of Drifters RV Resort and our site at Bay View plus a few others so check it out. The photo here is of Royle standing in front of the Rockport City Beach sign. We would often drive to this beach and get our walk in. So many different species of birds there; we love this location for our walk.
